There is no other movie that lives on a golf course the way Caddyshack does. Other films get quoted at the bar. Caddyshack gets quoted mid-round, out loud, by a foursome who have all seen it forty times and still lose it every single time somebody nails the delivery. A shot dribbles off the tee and somebody does the announcer voice. A putt hangs on the lip and every guy in the group screams the same three words at it. It has been more than forty years and the lines have not aged a day, because the movie was never really about golf. It was about the exact kind of people who play it.
So we did the only responsible thing and ranked them. Not the funniest lines in the movie, but the ones that actually made the jump off the screen and onto the course, the quotes real golfers still say to each other over a beer or a bad lie. Argue with the order all you want. That is half the fun. Here is the definitive ranking of the Caddyshack quotes golfers still say on the course.

Honorable Mention: The Whole Dalai Lama Monologue
Nobody says the entire looper speech on the course, because it runs about a minute and nobody has that kind of attention span standing over a five footer. But everybody says the ending. "So I got that goin' for me, which is nice" has fully escaped the movie and become a normal thing golfers say after any small win. Made a four foot par putt. Found your ball behind a tree with a clean look at the green. Got the last cart with a cooler that actually works. So you got that goin' for you, which is nice. It earns an honorable mention only because it is really the tail end of a bigger bit, and the bigger bit is too long to yell at your buddy.
Number Five: "You'll Get Nothing And Like It"
Judge Smails is the villain of the movie and the patron saint of every stuffy rules guy you have ever been paired with. "You'll get nothing, and like it" is what you say to the friend begging for a mulligan he has not earned, the guy asking to move his marker six inches closer, the partner who wants to renegotiate the bet on the back nine because he is losing. It is the perfect blend of cruel and correct, which is why it survives. Deliver it flat, with the little chin tuck, and it lands every time.
Number Four: "Hey Everybody, We're All Gonna Get Laid"
Every foursome has the loud one, and the loud one is basically Al Czervik. Rodney Dangerfield walks onto that snooty club and just starts saying whatever pops into his head at full volume, and forty years later he is the reason your buddy announces the whole group's business to the tee box behind you. Is it a quote you drop over a putt? No. Is it the exact energy of the guy who cracks the first beer on the first tee? Absolutely. It ranks this high because Al is the character most golfers secretly want to be, the one having more fun than everyone else and not caring who hears about it.
Number Three: "Be The Ball"
Ty Webb hands Danny the single most-quoted piece of fake golf wisdom in history, and the beautiful part is that people say it completely straight now. Standing over a shot you have no business pulling off, some sage in your group will murmur "be the ball," and half the time it somehow works, which only makes it worse. It is the go-to line for any moment that calls for confidence you have not earned. Nananana. It is nonsense, it is perfect, and it will outlive us all.

Number Two: The Cinderella Story
This is the one everybody does. You know the bit. A guy addresses a shot that matters exactly zero, and out comes the hushed announcer voice. "Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion." Then he takes his sad little swing and tops it forty yards. Carl Spackler narrating his own imaginary glory while destroying a row of flowers is the most relatable thing in the entire movie, because every one of us has stood over a meaningless shot and pretended it was for everything. It is number two only because it loses to the one line that is physically impossible not to yell.
Number One: "It's In The Hole"
There was never any doubt. "It's in the hole" is not a quote anymore. It is a reflex. Any ball rolling anywhere near a cup gets it, screamed by at least one person, usually before the ball has traveled three feet. Putts, chips, forty foot bombs, a wedge from the fairway, it does not matter. If it is heading vaguely toward the target, somebody is doing the Carl Spackler war cry. It is the single most repeated line in golf that came from a movie, the undisputed champion, and it is not close. Long may it be shouted.
The Gopher Gets The Last Word
No Caddyshack ranking is complete without the little guy who won the whole movie. Carl declared war on a dancing gopher, brought in plastic explosives, blew up half the course, and the gopher strolled out of the rubble without a scratch and did his happy dance in the closing shot. It is the perfect ending, because the gopher is every golfer's real opponent. Not the other guys in the group, not the scorecard, just the one dumb thing on the course that keeps beating you no matter what you throw at it. The Freeze Gopher tee is for anyone who has ever quietly rooted for the gopher, and honestly, who among us has not.
Wear The Movie Off The Course
Here is the thing about Caddyshack. Most courses want a collar on the tee, so the graphic tee is not your swing shirt. It is what you change into after, at the grill or the fire pit or the corner of the bar where the whole group is still doing the announcer voice an hour after the round ended. That is where these lines actually live, and that is exactly what these shirts are built for. The Caddyshack Rules tee says out loud what your whole foursome already believes, and it is the fastest way to find out which stranger at the bar has the movie memorized too.
The full lineup lives over in the Caddyshack collection, and if you want to keep browsing, the rest of the good stuff is in The Tee Box. Grab the one that gets the most laughs out of your group, wear it to the after, and let the quotes fly. We have been selling shirts to golfers who quote this movie since 2025, and we can promise you this: you will never once yell "it's in the hole" alone.
See you Tuesday.
